’Fancy’s Show-Box (From ’Twice Told Tales’)’ by Nathaniel Hawthorne follows Mr. Smith as he is visited by three women who embody Fancy, Memory, and Conscience. The latter hides her face beneath a veil, Memory carries a large book a pen for writing, and Fancy has a diorama which she uses to show Mr. Smith scenes of choices he almost took in his past. As he meets these women, Smith is able to learn about his life and the importance of his morality.
