This book introduces the history of Shanghai church architecture and lists the evolution of Shanghai church architecture. It explains why Shanghai church architecture has not widely adopted the common Latin cross layout of Western church buildings due to the decline of the altar, the lack of functions of the transept, and the relationship between land use. It provides an important reference for the interpretation of the church architecture in Shanghai.
