The Sun Shines over the Sanggan River is an excellent novel written by Ding Ling after she went deep into the rural struggle life to reflect the land reform movement. Because of her achievements in ideology and art, she won the second prize of Stalin Literature Prize in 1951. The novel artistically represents the great struggle against the feudal land system in the countryside. Around the process of the leading masses of the working group to expose and fight against the Qian Wengui, the bully and landlord, it highlights a key problem in the land reform: only when the most covert, but also the most cunning and ferocious bullies, land reform can achieve real victory.
