John William Polidori (1795–1821) begleitete den britischen Dichter Lord Byron (1788–1824) im Sommer des Jahres 1816 als Leibarzt an den Genfer See, wo die beiden auf Percy und Mary Shelley, die spätere Autorin des Frankenstein, trafen und sich mit einem folgenreichen Wettbewerb im Gespenstergeschichtenschreiben die Zeit vertrieben.
Reinhard Kaiser, geb.1950, ist Schriftsteller und Übersetzer. Für seine Romane, Sachbücher, Editionen und Übersetzungen – zuletzt die großen Romane von Grimmelshausen aus dem Deutschen des 17.Jahrhunderts – erhielt er zahlreiche Auszeichnungen, darunter zweimal den Deutschen Jugendliteraturpreis, den Geschwister-Scholl-Preis sowie den Niederrheinischen Literaturpreis. Reinhard Kaiser lebt in Frankfurt am Main.
