Volumes V and VI concern Dryden’s most involved labor: the complete translation of Virgil into English. Volume VI contains books 7-12 of The Aeneid, as well as commentary and textual notes to the full works of Virgil translated in these two volumes.

John Dryden was an English poet, literary critic, translator, and playwright who was made England's first Poet Laureate in 1668. William Frost was Professor Emeritus of English at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Vinton A. Dearing was Professor of English and Computer Applications in Literature at the University of California, Los Angeles.
