Mary Louisa Molesworth (1839-1921) was an English writer of children’s stories best known for books, such as Tell Me a Story, The Cuckoo Clock, and A Christmas Child. She has been called ‘the Jane Austen of the nursery.’ Later in career, she took an interest in supernatural fiction.
