In a globalised, accelerated and increasingly technology-based world, the law of the nation state increasingly competes with other normative orders. In this context, extra-state and state normative regimes interact in complex ways, but sometimes also get into conflict. The contributions examine current systems of self-regulation in various spheres of life, offer innovative impulses for discussion and open up new perspectives on a law ‘beyond the state’.
