Willa Sibert Cather (1873-1947) was an American writer whose great subject was the frontier spirit of the pioneers that she saw vanishing from contemporary America. She won the Pulitzer Prize for
One of Ours (1922).  She is best known for such novels as
O Pioneers! (1913),
My Antonia (1918), and
Death Comes for the Archbishop (1927).
