Zane Grey (1872–1939) was a prolific American author best known for his popular adventure novels and stories that presented an idealized image of the rugged Old West. Born Pearl Zane Gray in Zanesville, Ohio, he later changed his name to Zane Grey. Grey’s love for adventure and the great outdoors, particularly fishing and hunting, greatly influenced his literary work. He attended the University of Pennsylvania on a baseball scholarship before eventually turning to dentistry. However, it was his passion for writing that defined his career.
