Georges a été marqué par son enfance de jeune mulâtre.Les injustices, les privations, les humiliations …Cependant tout cela ne fera qu’affirmer sa personnalité et guider sa vie lorsqu’il reviendra plus tard dans son village natal.Georges est bien décidé a mettre un terme à ses discriminations.Cependant l’amour qu’il éprouve sera t ‘ il de nature à le réconcilier avec la société ou au contraire à vouloir la renverser?

Dans ce roman on retrouve un peu du Comte de Monte-Cristo. En effet celui ci a subi des injustices et désire se faire justice lui-même.Ce roman représentatif de l’oeuvre de Dumas est splendide.
