Pragmatic Study of Intensifiers in Shakespeare’s Plays 

The study of A Pragmatic Study of Intensifiers in Shakespeare’s Plays adopts a corpus-based approach, based on the theory of collocation theory, speech act theory, and the principle of politeness. Through quantitative and qualitative analysis, it studies the pragmatic features of English emphasis in Shakespeare’s plays from the discourse level. The research content includes the semantic prosody, semantic selection tendency, speech act patterns, illocutionary force emphasizing mechanism, polite behavior and the interrelationships between these pragmatic features.
