Joseph Hubertus Pilates. The Biography 

Javier Pérez Pont and Esperanza Aparicio Romero were professional dancers for more than 15 years, working as soloists and principals in several European companies. In 1994 they discovered the Pilates method of body conditioning. Javier and Esperanza moved to New York to study with the legendary Romana Kryzanowska and her daughter Sari Mejía Santo. They stood for a time beside these two teachers in order to improve their knowledge and reach Level II, becoming international trainers of the organization.

At the end of 1999 decided to return to Spain and settled in Barcelona. Making this city the seat of the first Pilates Studio in Spain, endorsed and supported by his two teachers. In 2002 launched the Teacher Certification Program in Spain under the tutelage of the two teachers mentioned.

In 2005 they published ‘The Authentic Pilates Method, The Art of Control’ with Editorial Planeta, having been a bestseller not only in Spain but throughout Spanish-speaking America. In 2012 Javier and Esperanza published a collection of seven e-books under the general title of ‘Contrology Pilates Physical Culture’ with Haka Books e-Ditions about the technique of the method and apparatus. Available in Spanish, English and Portuguese.

In this moment Javier Pérez Pont still working on the second part of ‘The Biography’ and on a new book dedicated to finding the ethical, moral and personal estate of Contrology. A dive into the depths of the origin and development of this art, which closely links author and work as a whole. A new book that aims to regain lost the true spirit of Contrology.

Javier Pérez Pont ejerció la profesión de bailarín profesional por más de 15 años, trabajando como solistas y principales en diversas compañías europeas.
En 1995 descubrió la Contrología. Después de formarse como profesor junto a la legendaria Romana Kryzanowska y Sari Mejía Santo en Nueva York. Permanece durante un tiempo al lado de estas dos maestras con la idea de perfeccionar sus conocimientos, obteniendo el Nivel II como formador internacional de la organización.
A finales del año 1999 decide regresar a España y elige Barcelona como la sede del primer Estudio en España avalado y apoyado por sus dos maestras instalando el que fue el primer Estudio de la Contrología en Barcelona.
En el año 2.002 da comienzo al Programa de Certificación para Profesores en España bajo la tutela de las dos maestras mencionadas Durante estos años han introducido la Contrología en convenciones por todo el territorio español y en programas de televisión y radio. En la actualidad además de dirigir su Estudio y Escuela de Certificación de Profesores, colaboran con Romana’s Pilates como invitado en la formación de profesores para impartir seminarios y clases internacionalmente.
Javier Pérez Pont conjuntamente con Esperanza Aparicio han publicado en el año 2.005 el primer libro por autores españoles sobre el método con el título ‘El Auténtico Método Pilates, El Arte del Control’ con la editorial Martinez Roca del Grupo Planeta, habiendo sido un éxito editorial no sólo en España sino en toda América de habla hispana. La obra se ha traducido al portugués.
Y por último acaban de terminar después de muchos años de investigación, la primera y además única biografía sobre la vida de Hubertus Joseph Pilates en la historia. Solo documentada en testimonios orales pero sobre todo en documentos oficiales, históricos y personales del protagonista del libro. Sin duda esta biografía, bajo el título de ‘Hubertus Joseph Pilates. La Biografía’ marcará un antes y un después sobre lo que hasta hoy se dado por cierto.
