Twenty-five years old, fresh out of college, Paul Martins life took a major turn. In 1992, as a result of a car accident, Martins left leg was amputated five inches below the knee. His future plans hadnt included a prosthetic leg. But after returning to his workout routine, Martin realized he was destined to be a disabled athlete.

He narrates the events of his life on the race course during the eight years and reveals what his life as a competitive triathlete, runner, and cyclist has been like. Drinking from My Leg details a host of accomplishments, including the completion of ten Ironman Triathlons and the raising of the flag after he won the Disabled Cycling World Championships in 2002.

Paul Martin is a Massachusetts native and earned a mechanical engineering degree from the UMass/Lowell, in 1992. Just six months later a car accident rendered him a below-knee amputee. Shortly thereafter he postponed his career as a sales engineer to pursue his athletic dreams … and never looked back. Paul became the first person to compete for four different national teams in skiing, hockey, triathlon and cycling. Paul continues to compete while his primary focus has shifted to public speaking and writing. He and his wife, Sharon, have three children and live in Colorado.
